STFC CERN BIC incubatees Croft Additive Manufacturing and 2DHeat Limited were among several SMEs that pitched at the Technology Strategy Board’s (TSB) Investor Showcase event held in London on 4th December. The prestigious event showcased winning companies from TSB Launchpad competitions across the space, materials and manufacturing, and digital sectors to an audience of potential investors with the aim of securing funding to match the investment received from TSB.
The event was the culmination of three Launchpad competitions: the Creative and Digital Clyde Launchpad based in Edinburgh; the Harwell Space Launchpad based in Oxfordshire; and the North West Materials and Manufacturing Launchpad of which Croft Additive Manufacturing and 2DHeat Ltd were successful applicants. The companies pitched their innovative products and exhibited throughout the evening, networking with representatives from TSB and STFC, other SMEs involved in the Launchpad competitions, and potential investors.
STFC were cluster champions for both the North West Materials and Manufacturing Launchpad and the Harwell Space Launchpad and provided a dedicated business support package to assist in strengthening the business plan for each applicant company. The business support package included legal, marketing and pitching training as well as identifying technology gaps in projects and investigating which STFC facilities the companies could access. By having an existing link with the campus, Croft Additive Manufacturing and 2DHeat were eligible to apply for the competition.
